Columbia Co. deputy hit while riding bike on Furys Ferry Road

COLUMBIA COUNTY, Ga. (WRDW) -- News 12 has learned an off-duty Columbia County Sheriff's Office bicycle deputy was hit by a truck along Furys Ferry Road on Monday afternoon.
Capt. Steve Morris says 60-year-old Deputy Mark Benson is a 16-year veteran of the Sheriff's Office.
Benson was riding his personal bicycle in McCormick County at about 3:15 p.m. when he was hit.
Benson is said to be in fair condition.
