AUGUSTA, Ga. -- News 12 has learned Richmond County deputies are on the scene of an accident in Augusta causing power outages in the area.

It happened around 1:45 p.m. at Peach Orchard Road at Balfour Street.
We're told a car ran into a utility pole, snapping it in half.

Dorothy Dalton, 87, has been identified as the driver. She was taken to the hospital with injuries but is expected to be OK.

Deputies say Dalton fell asleep at the wheel but will not face charges because she has a medical condition.

Outages have been reported along Peach Orchard around Bobby Jones Expressway.
