Bids announced for Ga. road projects

Friday, Oct. 5., 2012

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- The bids for multiple state Department of Transportation projects have been announced.

The Reeves Construction Company of Macon will be in charge of widening 2.5 miles of Wrightsboro Road from two to four lanes. This portion is in between Jimmie Dyess Parkway and Bobby Jones Expressway. They will also be installing a video detection system. This is expected to cost over $18 million.

Other projects in the Augusta area include Barton Chapel Road, Augusta West Parkway and Wrightsboro Road, which will be realigned. This is expected to be completed by April 2015.

“I’m delighted the department is moving forward on this important project for Augusta and Richmond County,” said 10th Congressional District State Transportation Board Member Don Grantham in a news release. “The millions of dollars the department has invested in our area with this and other recent projects are going to profoundly improve mobility.”
