AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Richmond County deputies say a drunk driver killed a Hephzibah dad of three early Sunday morning off of Windsor Springs Road.

Instead of celebrating Father's Day, Hilton Alphonso Milton's family is mourning his loss. This is a Father's Day that will never be forgotten, and they say they may never be able to understand his death.

"It's terrible, I mean we just buried our grandmother, my mother just a couple of weeks ago. And now we've got to bury her husband? For something that should have never have happened," family member Karen Wooden said.

Milton was traveling on Windsor Springs Road around 2:30 a.m. when investigators say 22-year-old Kalisa Luke hit him as she was turning left into Crazy Leggs. Investigators say she had been drinking.

"You took an innocent person's life. Leaving his family, his wife, they've just been married a couple of years," Wooden said.

Milton was a father of three, with two daughters and a son.

Wooden says the impact from Milton's death will linger for years from one woman's poor choice.

"Doesn't matter how much time they give her, it's not going to bring him back. She's living -- he's gone," she said.

She said, "Woulda, coulda, shoulda, nothing you can do about that, that's gone now. Shouldn't have been drinking and driving. Should've known that before you got behind the steering wheel."

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday morning for Milton. Luke is at the Richmond County Jail facing several charges including DUI, failure to yield when turning left and felony homicide by vehicle.
