Augusta woman killed while crossing Washington Road

UPDATE: The driver of the vehicle was Nicole Mason. She was driving a Jeep SUV, according to Richmond County Capt. Scott Gay.

News 12 has also learned that Floyd's husband, Jene, was walking behind her as she crossed the street and witnessed everything. He was not hurt.

Mason will not be charged because she was not at fault.

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- A 34-year-old Augusta woman is dead after being hit by a car early Sunday morning.

The coroner told News 12 Heather Floyd died when she was crossing the 2800 block of Washington Road.

She died of multiple blunt force trauma just after 1 a.m.

Investigators say the driver will not face any charges, as Floyd is at fault in the accident.
