Aiken woman dies after being hit by motorcycle

AIKEN, S.C. -- The woman who was hit by a motorcycle in Aiken Thursday morning has died.

The Aiken County Coroner's Office says 53-year-old Cynthia Sanders died during surgery on Thursday.

Sanders was hit by a 2001 Kawasaki motorcycle when she tried to cross Rudy Mason Parkway near York Street at 6:40 a.m.

The driver was injured and taken to the hospital. No charges have been filed against the driver at this time.

The Aiken Department of Public Safety Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating the accident.

This is the second fatal wreck in the City of Aiken this year.
