UPDATE: Victim identified in fatal accident on Gordon Highway

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- News 12 has just learned a man is dead after an accident on Gordon Highway between Gates 1 and 2 near Fort Gordon.

The coroner tells us Peter Barile died at the scene.

Law Enforcement officials on the scene told News 12 Barile's black Honda Accord was driving westbound on the eastbound lane of Gordon Highway.

The Honda hit a silver Acura head-on, and the vehicles then slammed into a third car.

The driver of the silver Acura was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

There were three people in the third car, but no one was injured.
