Gearing up for Labor Day weekend

August 31, 2007

The Highway Patrol expects this to be another bust weekend on the roads. Not only is it Labor Day weekend, the unofficial end of summer, but there are also several college football games in Georgia and South Carolina this weekend.

The Georgia State Patrol is predicting 18 deaths on the state's roads this weekend. Last year, there were 22 deaths.

Airports are making preparations for lots of traffic, too. Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson is expecting more than 1.3 million passengers. Today should be the busiest day, with more than 270,000 travelers.
