Accident after car pulls into path of ambulance

August 17, 2007

AUGUSTA, Ga.---There was a wreck this morning involving a Rural Metro ambulance and another vehicle. It happened at Dean's Bridge Road and Dover Street.

Sheriff's Lt. Jimmy Wylds tells News 12 the ambulance was heading north on Highway 1 with lights and sirens working. There was a dialysis patient inside.

Police say a car driven by Esbelle Febus of Harlem turned left from Dover into the path of the ambulance.

Febus went to the hospital with cuts and bruises. A second ambulance transported the dialysis patient, who had no injuries from the wreck. The ambulance driver wasn't hurt either.

There are no charges yet.

I just went to Augusta to see Esbelle and its more than just cuts and bruises. She was hurt really bad and just because the sirens were working doesn't always mean you can hear them. I don't alway hear the sirens either. Esbelle is a very responsible person and this was just a freak accident. Please pray that she gets well soon.
