Deputy in accident on troubled road

AIKEN, S.C.--An Aiken County deputy has been taken to MCG with a head injury and back pain after an accident on Silver Bluff Road.

Lt. Michael Frank tells News 12 36-year-old Deputy John McCord was traveling at normal speed responding to a call when he topped a hill where it had been raining heavily. His car hydroplaned on two inches of water, causing it to collide with a white pickup truck.

The other driver was also taken to MCG.

Deputy McCord was hired by the sheriff's department on April 20. Prior to that he was a trooper with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
