2 injured in semi truck accident

March 16, 2007

A crash involving two semis on Highway 56 early this morning kept the road closed for most of the morning and sent the drivers to the hospital.

It happened around 5:30 am near the Richmond-Burke County line.

Highway Patrol officers say a trucker heading north lost control and started going down the highway sideways. He hit a truck heading to Waynesboro right in the cab.

That driver, from Augusta, was seriously hurt.

The other driver, who may face charges, also went to the hospital.
