AIKEN, S.C.---An Aiken man has died in an overnight crash on Highway 278, near Henley Dr.

Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton identified him as 27-year-old Lamaas Barfield.

The crash was reported about 5:21 am. The Coroner says Barfield lost control of his Toyota Camry on a curve. The vehicle overturned and he was thrown out.

Carlton says Barfield was not wearing a seat belt, and he considered speed a factor in the crash.

This is the third traffic fatality in the county during the first month of 2008.

My condolences to the Barefield family. Like my boi Jay, I also shared memorable moments with Mass and Aiken Tech and Edward Waters College. He was one of the most coolest, realist and most talented person I've ever met. RIP Dirt
