UPDATE: 1 dead in Barnwell Co. accident

BARNWELL COUNTY, S.C. (WRDW) -- One person is dead after an accident in Barnwell County on Tuesday morning.

The accident happened around 8 a.m. at the intersection of Highways 70 and 304.

A Chevy bus driven by 53-year-old Darlene Kwarteng heading southbound on Highway 304 and a Ford pickup truck driving eastbound on Highway 70 collided.

The driver of the truck, Thomas Dale Cook of Rossville, Ga., died in the accident.

No charges have been filed at this time, but the South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating.
