AUGUSTA, Ga. -- News 12 has just learned that the Georgia Board of Regents has announced an interim president for Augusta State University.

Dr. Shirley Strum Kenny has just been named to the position.

She has previously been president at Queens College, City University of New York and at the State University of New York at Stony Brook.

Dr. Bill Bloodworth will be retiring, effective June 30. News 12 has learned that GHSU president Dr. Ricardo Azziz will not be the interim president. A school statute does not allow a school president to oversee two separate universities.
