AUGUSTA, Ga. -- The results are in for students and teachers tested for tuberculosis at Butler High School.
The Georgia Department of Public Health says of the 696 people who were tested, 135 of them -- or 20 percent -- had positive TB skin tests and normal chest X-rays. This means they do not have active TB and have been prescribed preventative medication.
There is one student who has a "secondary" TB case. The student is receiving treatment but is not considered to be infectious.
The tuberculosis scare started in October when a student contracted TB. Parents became concerned and pushed for additional students to get tested other than just the ones who came into direct contact with the infected student.
