AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- The Richmond County School System has issued a statement after a state review involving school funds.
The review began after the principal at Willis Foreman asked for funds for Honors Day events but was told the money was not available.
PTA Treasurer Monique Braswell says the money was there.
Richmond County School Superintendent Dr. Frank Roberson met with State PTA President Donna Kosicki, along with state and regional officers, on Wednesday.
According to a news release from the school system, "the meeting addressed a path forward for the Willis Foreman PTA, which would afford parents, teachers and staff an opportunity to work together through Georgia PTA tenets to help address the needs of children."
The group agreed on future audits of financial records by the state treasurer and recommended that a meeting be held with parents at the school to elect new officers.
The news release says the new leaders of the school PTA will receive state-sponsored training.
