AUGUSTA, Ga. – Match Day is an important day at Georgia Health Sciences University, but the seriousness of the event didn’t deter many students from enjoying the day.
One-hundred and eight-five senior medical students participated in the event that pairs not just GHSU senior medial students, but those across the nation. They are paired with postgraduate programs that will provide specialty training.
The GHSU event was held at the Natalie and Lansing B. Lee Jr. Auditorium on Friday.
To prepare for the day, medical students across the country rank the hospitals they’d like to go to and complete their residencies. The students are also ranked by hospital residency programs. The rankings are sent to the National Resident Matching Program and the pairings are then announced all at the same time at medical schools across the U.S.
