EVANS, Ga. -- A 42-year-old mom is in jail and 20 Lakeside High School students have been cited after an after-prom party Saturday night.
Columbia County deputies were responding to complaints of a loud party off Greenway Drive in Evans around 1 a.m. Sunday.
When deputies got to the home, they found several people outside in the driveway drinking alcohol. The teens were said to have run inside the garage and shut the door, while others ran toward Furys Ferry Road.
Rachael Arrington, 42, was arrested. Deputies say she is the homeowner and mother of one of the students.
At least 20 Lakeside High School students, ranging from 16 to 18 took alcohol-sensor tests and were cited.
Several other teens were cited. A 17-year-old student, Zachary Hornsby, was arrested for minor in possession and disorderly conduct after hiding and later fighting with deputies.
All of the minors were released to their parents.
As for Arrington, she was booked and charged with contributing to delinquency, unruliness and deprivation of a minor. She was also charged with providing alcohol to any person under 21. Those are said to be two misdemeanors.
