AUGUSTA, Ga. -- An Augusta commissioner is pushing a resolution about the newly consolidated GHSU/ASU.
Commissioner Jerry Brigham is requesting that resolution stating that Augusta must be part of the school's new name will be heard at Tuesday's commission meeting.
"Augusta is an international recognizable city. I just think the commission should go on the record requesting that Augusta be part of the new name," Brigham said.
GHSU President Dr. Ricardo Azziz says his office has not heard from anyone on the commission.
"It seems odd that they would proceed without speaking with us first," he said.
As of now, Georgia Health Sciences University and Augusta State University officials have not settled on a new name.
