It’s the second time this year Lakeside High School has had money stolen, first from its band booster account and most recently from its football ticket sales. News 12 is on your side with why the person responsible could be on the county payroll.

It was a typical day at school for eight-year-old Ishana, with the exception of who drove her there.

“I was wondering why wasn’t he there and is he sick?” Ishana Ratan said.

The truth is her bus driver, William Logue, was in jail charged with theft by taking, a felony. Officials believe he stole money while selling football tickets at Lakeside High School.

“Since he wasn’t here, I was a little bit scared with what happened to him,” said Morgan, bus rider.

Max remembers riding Logue’s bus for two years in elementary school.

“Yeah, it seems kind of weird. Yeah, I am kind of surprised,” Max Siciliano said.

As are several school officials who, just last May, dealt with a similar case when band booster president Sharon Nichols stole $12,000 from the account.

If Logue is found guilty, it would be the second crime committed by someone affiliated with the school in just five months.

Parents in this Martinez neighborhood say they’d be disappointed and their children are equally as stumped.

“He always just seemed kind of cranky and fussy but he was a nice guy, that’s what I remember,” Max said.

And as Ishana finishes her homework Thursday night, she’ll start Friday morning much the same way, by saying “hello” to a different driver.

Billy Logue has yet to post his bond, it’s set at $5,200. As for the total amount stolen from Lakeside’s ticket booth, investigators aren’t releasing that at this time. We do know, however, Logue did have access to those gate funds and officials are blaming him for stealing them on two separate occasions.
