AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- Augusta Commissioners settled the case surrounding the use of excessive force on a 15-year-old teen.

Kyvan James says Richmond County Deputy Brian Mcduffie hit him in the face with a flashlight while deputies were responding to a burglary call on Pines Place Subdivision earlier this year.

Mcduffie was later fired for the use of excessive force and the Sheriff's Merit Board upheld that decision.

The city settled the case instead of going to court for the amount of $55,000.
