AUGUSTA, Ga (WRDW) -- March 31 was supposed to be the last day for storm debris pickup in Augusta Richmond County, but that may not be the case.

City leaders estimate the area to be about 90 to 95 percent clear. It could end up costing the city thousands more to be completely clean by Masters Week.

Eric Cole loves Augusta National and has the pictures to prove it.

"You can't get past the gate and your only choice to get a picture would be across the street," Augusta National Eric Cole said.

Now Magnolia Lane is almost ready for Masters Week. The iconic drive looks ready but in the beginning of February things were different.

"The crews here I understand are pretty fantastic. They spare no expense to make sure everything is dialed in for the tournament," Cole said.

Most of Washington road leading up to Augusta National is clean and so is most of Walton Way. Commissioner Mary Davis says her district was one of the worst hit, but it doesn't look that way now.

"First of all I think the city has done a phenomenal job as far as the debris clean up. We've already reached our limit again as far as what we approved in the contract," Commissioner Mary Davis said.

City leaders say at some point the homeowners will have to start footing some of the bill. We're told once they've passed an area they will not be back and it'll be up to the homeowner to have it removed.

"I would appreciate if a homeowner could take their own responsibility to get piles like that off the street. I can't guarantee the city will come back for a third time," Commissioner Davis said.

If your home has been missed for storm debris pickup call 311. City leaders say any debris left over after an area is cleared will be picked up on your trash day. Call 311 for more information about yard debris measurements.
