NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. (WRDW) -- The former governor of South Carolina says he's officially returning to politics.
The National Review Online is reporting that Mark Sanford, who previously served as governor for two terms and Congress for three terms, will be running for the congressional district currently represented by Tim Scott.
The Republican made headlines in 2009 when he went missing for days, claiming he was hiking the Appalachian Trail, when he was actually in Argentina with his mistress.
Sanford was replaced by current Gov. Nikki Haley after completing the remainder of his term.
Sanford told the National Review: "Officially we’re going to announce tomorrow, and then it’s off to the races."
