AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- Augusta commissioners approved giving the sheriff and solicitor general pay raises on Tuesday night.
Sheriff Richard Roundtree currently makes just under $110,000, while Solicitor General Kelly McIntyre makes $97,000.
In a commission meeting earlier this month, the salary increases for Roundtree and McIntyre were denied with a 5 to 4 vote.
Commissioner Marion Williams says he brought up the topic on Tuesday because he believed it had enough votes to get passed.
News 12 has learned outgoing Sheriff Ronnie Strength had already budgeted for the incoming sheriff to make $127,000.
