AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- The push for a Business Improvement District continues downtown. Sheriff Richard Roundtree tells News 12 some property owners want commissioners to pay for the extra security.

It's also been months since Augusta Commissioners toured the area and pointed out changes that need to be made. "I noticed a pile of debris which lets me know some work has been done," said

Michael Hagler exercises here every week. We first met him 3 months ago power-walking the Riverwalk.
It was around the same time city leaders were touring the area looking to make changes.

"We are doing some work downtown trying to trim the trees. We got side tracked with the storms that we've had," said City Administrator Fred Russell.

But things like fixing broken fixtures and repairing all the lights sound is yet to be done. "It's definitely an F, none of it has been repaired," said Hagler.

Parks and Recreation says the major hold up is $180,000 needed to complete the work. "Right now we're working with the DDA to see, if they can help us with that money," said Parks and Rec Director Robert Levine.

Sheriff Roundtree tells News 12 some downtown property owners have signed on to his plan to add extra deputies and tax those receiving the extra security, but others no so much.

Hagler just wants leaders to move forward, so he can keep moving forward.
