AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- Public Works has two trucks with sand and one with salt here prepped and ready in South Augusta.

In Downtown Augusta, they have another truck on standby to keep the roads clear.

We're told they're waiting until conditions get bad before they start to treat the roads.

Extra crews and tree cutters are on standby as well. The county has a team of eight on standby until midnight then a second set comes on board. They're focus will be the black ice that can make it very dangerous to drive. Once ice forms, they'll be out in droves working to keep you safe.

Emergency personnel tell us even though it's clear right now you can never be over-prepared.

"You can never do to much. We just ask that citizens stay home if you can. Don't get on the roads if you don't have to. The roads are going to be bad tonight, we want to keep as many people off the roads as possible. We will have deputies out and they'll let us know about conditions," said Disaster Preparedness Coordinator Mie Lucas.

If you live in Augusta-Richmond County and see any weather related problems call 706-821-1080 and someone will assist you.
