AUGUSTA, Ga. -- The woman accusing a man of buying votes for Richmond County Sheriff's candidate Richard Roundtree is now speaking out.
"I'm about to tell you the story," said Latasha Moore condescendingly toward claims that the family she accused is calling her a liar.
Moore says she and a friend were at a Richard Roundtree campaign event before the runoff on Aug. 21.
"They told us to come over there and get some food and drinks, but my homegirl didn't want any, so she walked to the stop sign," said Zenobia Gordon, who was at the event with Moore.
Gordon went to get some water. That's when she recognized a man named Jerry Jordan, who she says was hanging out with the Roundtree camp.
"[Jerry said] to tell 'Tasha to come here," Gordon said.
"When I came to the car, and I was like, 'What you want Jerry? You know I ain't got any talk for you,'" Moore said.
However, she did say a conversation ensued.
"'I'm going to tell you what I'm going to do,'" Moore said Jerry told her. "'You get five people plus yourself and come vote, then you come to my shop tomorrow, and I got a car for you.'"
"He didn't ask for money. He told her he got her," Gordon added.
It was then Moore decided to do something she'd never done: vote.
"You can look up my record and see how many times I ever voted," she said. "I wasn't going to vote this time until what Jerry promised me."
After she voted, she wanted her reward, so she text messaged Jordan.
"You for real about the car because I already got four people," the text message read.
"He didn't respond," Moore tells News 12.
So she says she repeatedly tried to reach him when she got this response:
"You stupid [expletive deleted] girl your vote didn't mean [expletive deleted]. He lost by 1,000, so [expletive deleted] who cares," the text message said.
Now, a warrant is out for Moore's arrest after Jordan's wife claims Moore was sending her harassing text messages.
"His wife, talking about I'm harassing her, I could take a lie detector test because I do not even know her number," Moore said of the allegations.
