Augusta,Ga---Some changes today for those of you who ride the bus in Augusta and one has to do with change.
"Since this is the city bus, they should carry change for people who need it or get a change machine," said Bus Rider Brent Johnson.
The bus register uses exact change only. If you pay more, you get a card with your remaining balance and you can only use that card to ride the bus.
"There talking about changes on the bus. They aren't just holding up to their promises," said Johnson.
Mcdonald's Transit General Manager says growth is coming. "We're going to look at alternate routes to keep the same money," said Mcdonald Transit GM Quentarus Brown.
The city's buses could have more routes coming. Plans include extended routes on Washington Road and even buses to Fort Gordon.
Even more changes are coming. 53 bus workers recently voted to join a union to possibly negotiate higher salaries and overlook their employer.
"They're well within their rights to unionize. So now it's time to meet with them and get their terms and demands," said
For Johnson, his demand is simple change for a dollar and we thought that made common sense. After we met Mr. Johnson, we called Mr. Brown back. He agreed passengers shouldn't have to go through all of this to ride the bus.
So he promised change in the form of pocket change thanks to News12.
