Augusta,Ga---City leaders voted on a number of issues but their main attention was on Downtown. "I will have my say Mr. Mayor. Thank you for your time," said Retired Consultant Al Gray.
There were lots of heated back and forth exchanges over whether to call the Urban Redevelopment plan.
"Let me give you somebody to tell you the facts," said City Administrator Fred Russell.
Gray told commissioners what he considers facts about the plan. He went to tell city leaders, they don't have to designate such a wide area to get funding and how the public needs a say. He was silenced by the Mayor Deke Copenhaver.
"This way we could actually hash things out and take a couple of steps and do it the right way. We don't have to call the whole downtown certain words," said Commissioner Wayne Guilfoyle.
"I'm glad we're moving it back to a workshop. We need to go back to the drawing board and see what's best for our city," said Commissioner Mary Davis.
The commission meeting times have changed. City leaders voted to change the meeting from 5pm to 2pm.
"We could still be here at 7 o'clock or 8 o'clock. It just gives us more time for discussion," said Commissioner Alvin Mason.
Officials voted tonight to come up with a plan to force absentee landlords to clean their properties. They also voted to send back to committee a 2.5 million dollar loan request for the Laney Walker Redevelopment. Some leaders say more time is required for certain agenda items.
