Augusta,Ga---The Social Security Office offers essential day to day services for hundreds of area residents. "I came to get a replacement Social Security Card for my son and myself," said Lawanda Hobbs.

"We draw social security every month. I wanted to make some changes to my accounts. They won't let me change anything," said Christian Miles.

Two strangers share the same experience of being turned away. Since Congress hasn't passed a budget the local office is not issuing social security or medicare replacement cards. They also can't issue a proof of income letter.

"The government is making me mad. They need to get on the ball and agree. I'm not happen with the shutdown," said Christian Miles.

SRS Employees are waiting to find if or how long they'll be furloughed. Housing and Urban Development offices in Atlanta have a skeleton crew. In Washington, Congressmen from our area are bucking the national trend, with Democrat John Barrow Voting with Republicans, and Republican Paul Broun voting with Democrats.

"Congress is failing us right now. I wish they would get they're act together," said Miles.

She says everybody affected by this shutdown should remember this come voting season.
