Augusta, Ga (WRDW)-----Dr. Martin Luther king Jr. is a celebrated and respected Civil Rights icon. He fought against injustice and oppression and we have images of Dr. King like you've never seen him before.

Dr. King's image has become popular for party promoters around the nation.Every year around the MLK national holiday his image is edited like the one you see here with gold chains and a gold crown.

We talked to dozens who say it's just plain disrespectful.

Most remember this image of Dr. King dressed in a suit preaching messages of hope and justice. Lately his image is being used to make money at nightclubs. Party promoters are putting Dr. King's face on club fliers.

"No oh my gosh that is just wrong," said Jovanda Bolden.

Kydd Joe is full time radio DJ and part time party promoter.

"I can't say that I haven't done it. It would be hypocritical for me to say that and I have done it," said Joe.

Kydd Joe says he's used Dr. King's face on flier year ago. He says he stopped after really finding out what Dr. King was really about.

"In past times I've used that image to pay homage and show respect. I've done my research and know now that it is very disrespectful," said Joe.
