Augusta,Ga (WRDW)---More roundabouts are planned for the city of Augusta. "I don't think roundabouts are confusing. It's a circular pattern and just a little different than what people are use to," said City Engineer Steve Cassle.
"Roundabouts aren't confusing, you don't have any 90 degree turns. When you get into the roundabout you merge right," said Commissioner Bill Lockett.
City leaders are still making their rounds about the possible roundabouts. Right now, there are plans to put them on Aumond, Skinner,Laney Walker and Monte Sano. Each one will cost $1 million to build.
"Roundabouts have been around for many many years. They are found to be extremely safe," said
"We looked at several factors one was accidents and the other is efficiency. It was also about the gateway aspect," said Cassle.
City Engineer Steve Cassle also says noise will decrease in the area if roundabouts are built.
The city will have a public hearing on the Roundabouts Thursday. They'll also discuss roundabouts on Laney Walker and Druid park.
You can also find out about another roundabout at Central and Monte Sano.
