Augusta,Ga (WRDW)----An old Augusta eye sore could be getting some attention soon. Augusta commissioners will discuss what to do with the old Regency Mall property.
The mall has been empty for years. The parking lot for the mall was used earlier this year as a staging ground for Georgia Power during the ice storm in Feburary. Commissioner Bill Lockett put the item on the agenda to find out what city workers are doing to find a tenant.
We talked to people who live in the area who say the city has got to put the property to good use. "It is a pretty good space and still a standing building. If the building is worth restoring, then I think it should be developed. They could put it out for bid or bring someone in to develop it," said Neighbor Terry Willis.
City leaders will get an update on Monday afternoon on any progress made at the site.
