AUGUSTA, Ga. -- It's back to the drawing board for the City of Augusta after the main candidate for human resources director decided not to take the job.
News 12 has learned George Williams was recommended to be hired for the position but has taken a job somewhere else.
Williams has previously worked in Hillsborough County, Fla.; Lee County, Fla.; and at the Tampa International Airport.
In his application for the director position he wrote, "I want to be where others want my help and appreciate my passion. The place doesn't matter."
Issues at Augusta's Human Resources Department have gone on for some time, and just this summer, the commission voted not to outsource the department to an outside company.
