AUGUSTA, Ga. -- News 12 has just learned the Augusta Housing Authority is planning on submitting an application to demolish Cherry Tree Crossing.
If the application is approved by the Department of Housing and Urban Development, 365 families will be affected.
Leaders want to turn the neighborhood near GHSU into a mixed-use development, similar to Underwood Homes. Residents could start moving in as early as next June.
The authority plans on submitting the application no later than December.
A public meeting is scheduled with families next Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Cherry Tree Crossing.
