ATLANTA -- The recounted votes are in and Rick Allen and Lee Anderson are headed to a runoff for the 12th Congressional seat.
The secretary of state confirmed the results for News 12.
The Board of Elections in 19 different counties met Thursday morning to begin recounting the votes. Wright McLeod went up two votes and Allen went down two votes, but there was no substantial change in the outcome.
McLeod officially announced his request for a recount on Wednesday. Since less than 1 percent of the votes separated McLeod and Allen from taking on Anderson, McLeod was allowed to ask for a recount.
Allen and Anderson will battle it out in the runoff on Aug. 21.
Here are the final results from the Secretary of State's Office:
The final tally is as follows:
-Lee Anderson: 20,551 votes, 34.22 percent
-Rick Allen: 15, 436 votes, 25.71 percent
-Wright McLeod: 14,856 votes. 24.74 percent
-Maria Sheffield: 9,207 votes, 15.33 percent
