Augusta, GA---Women's Equality Day was celebrated in South Augusta Thursday, with a luncheon featuring remarks from a woman running for Congress.

Dr. Deborah Honeycutt spoke about why she's running for Georgia's 13th congressional district. The district is south of Atlanta, and it's Honeycutt's second run at the seat.

Honeycutt talked about why she's running, saying "We don't see the parity of the percentage of women that are in the population coming up toward Congress in leadership positions that help determine what women and men are doing as far as our legislation. So I think we have a ways to go to encourage women to go on that way."

Women's Equality Day was started by the late Congresswoman Bella Abzug.
