Past catches up to Few in new city

August 6, 2007

DEMOPOLIS, Ala.---Former Augusta fire chief Ronnie Few has a new job, but his troubled past may be getting in the way.

Thursday night (August 2), the Demopolis city council named Few the fire chief. Then, the local newspaper, the Demopolis Times, started reporting on some problems. They include a grand jury investigation in Augusta, a stormy tenure as chief in Washington, D.C., and questions about where Few lived when he ran for mayor of Augusta.

Public outcry following the report prompted the city council to call a special meeting set for tomorrow to discuss the situation.

that's true. I read the posts on - it's a news site / forum for Demopolis- before I ever saw anything on Demopolis Times. The website is really good about getting the news to the people before anywhere else but I guess thats because it's the internet. It's still faster and it seems like the people there know more about it than the news reporters do for the Demopolis Times webs site or the newspaper.

Has Marion Williams and group been to Demopolis Alabama to tell what a good fire chief Few was and how all of the accusations against him were racially motivated.

Credit where credit is due: The Demopolis Times did not break this story - it was first reported on, the community online portal for Demopolis, Alabama, days before the Times picked up on the story.
