Merry drops part of Williams lawsuit

July 10, 2007

AUGUSTA, Ga.---Community activist Woody Merry tells News 12 he will drop a part of his lawsuit against Commissioner Marion Williams. The original suit accuses Williams of violating his oath of office by not paying property taxes. Since Williams paid his taxes last week, Merry says he will drop that claim.

However, Merry says he still plans to sue Williams for claiming to have a copy of the city administrator's hard drive and for what he says was a conflict of interest with a proposed drag strip.

Thank goodness for community activists and watchdogs like Woody. By the way he has run for office before but unfortunately didn't get elected. Woody puts himself out there not for personal gain or recognition but because he cares about this community. The boneheads like Williams are the source of the lawsuits because of their outrageous behavior and unbridled arrogance.

If Woody Merry is so concern about what Marion Williams and others commisoners are doing wrong. Then why don't he run for public office, and quit costing us the tax payer more money for law suits?Augusta is broke and we can not afford anymore law suits.Let the tax payers and all that vote voice their opion and get the ones out that are holding Augusta back.It is time to go forward.
