Blue Laws not suspended after all

Midday, June 29, 2007

SOUTH CAROLINA---South Carolina legislators are busy dealing with Gov. Mark Sanford's budget vetoes. He vetoed over 240 items.

The House has overridden more than 100 of Sanford's vetoes, but they allowed his Blue Laws veto to stand. That means the same Sunday closing laws will be in effect as always, so that many stores still can't open until Sunday afternoon.

Some lawmakers vow to keep pushing for ending the Blue Laws.

I'm glad the government made the decision for me about what products I can buy and when. Help yourselves to my tax dollars, but don't let us adults make our own decisions about how we spend our time and money on your Lord's time.
