AUGUSTA, Ga.---Masters Week is always a good time for city leaders to show off Augusta. They're rolling out the red carpet in hopes that new business will start rolling in.

City leaders certainly know the Masters is a way to get the bigwigs in town, and the hope is they'll fall in love with Augusta and want to stay here...or at least bring their businesses here.

It's seemed to work for the more than 40 years the Chamber of Commerce has been holding the Georgia Red Carpet Tour, which always makes a stop here at the Masters.

Today, state lawmakers, the mayor, commissioners, and leaders from Fort Gordon played host to about 100 executives from all over.

This is a big chance for the city to recruit companies, but leaders will tell you it doesn't happen overnight. This is the beginning of the process.

One of the new things Augusta leaders have added during one leg of the tour is a video.

"When they had the trip from the airport to the National, this year, we have a ten minute video that they saw, so that they get that little flavor of Augusta, and have that to think about when they are watching some great golf," said Sue Parr of the Augusta Chamber of Commerce.

Since the tour started, the chamber says more than 23,000 jobs have been created, adding up to nearly $4 billion in investments.

The Chamber is always very secretive about which companies are here, but we can tell you there were several food processing companies and a metal working company represented here today.
