Augusta, GA---There are some different officers on the Augusta Coliseum Authority, and things are already off to a rocky start. Another show is struggling to cash in at the box office. "I am now a board member," said Harry Moore. He is the former chairman of the Augusta coliseum authority celebrating after 2 years of blood, sweat, and tears.
"I do not have to sit in the middle no more. I can voice my opinion. I got a lot of good ideas. I think it's gonna move this place ahead."
Keith Brown is the newly elected chairman. His plan is to hit the ground running.
"I'm gonna run with the ball I'm gonna work as diligently as i can," said Brown.
But some say after too many financial problems and too few sell out attractions time is running out.
"We've given them the opportunity to correct it before and they have not," said Senator Ed Tarver. "It would be appropriate for them to consider voluntarily resigning from their positions and allowing those positions to be refilled."
Keith Brown is not throwing in the towel just yet. "The team is in place, and I think that it's just time now to bring it together and put the ideas and the policies and procedures to move forward."
Of course that is a lot easier said than done. "It's gonna take a little blood, sweat, and tears," said Brown.
Talking about blood, sweat, and tears...the concert is Friday. It cost the arena $70,000. The complex would need to sell 2000 tickets just to break even. They have sold 250 tickets.
"It may be too little...too late, but we are moving forward with the show, and we're looking forward to the people to support it," said Brown.
"I think if it was promoted a little bit more they might have had a few more people out," said Rex Mays.
Rex bought a ticket for him and his wife.
"We're gonna have a night out on the town in Augusta," said Rex.
The Davidson fine arts jazz band will also be there. They will open the concert. Two students will actually get to play with the lead act.
So, here is the rundown: Keith Brown is chair, Richard Isdell is vice chair, Adrian Arnold is treasurer, and William Fennoy is secretary...familiar names...new titles.
