COLUMBIA, S.C.---About a dozen people gathered at the Statehouse Friday as part of the nationwide protests by independent truckers.

They're upset with the high cost of diesel fuel.

Some of the drivers parked their rigs near the Capitol, then held up signs warning of a possible strike.

In York County, six drivers slowed down on Interstate 77 to protest the diesel prices. State troopers escorted them to traffic wouldn't be blocked.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Why did gas prices shoot up so much the same day truckers go on strike? Too make up for the loss in profit from diesel not being bought today?
