Coliseum Board meets lawmakers

News 12 at 6 o'clock, January 31, 2008

ATLANTA, Ga.---The Augusta Coliseum authority met with Augusta's legislative delegation today in Atlanta. Only 5 of the 12 members took the trip.

Delegation Chairman Quincy Murphy tells News 12 this was a fact finding session.

Some have suggested doing away with the board after a less than stellar year at the arena.

It would take 3 house members and both senators to do away with the board. The delegation plans to meet with the other board members in Augusta February 9th.

This is the results of elected officials appointing their relatives, friends and business associates to boards and committees that are supposed to protect the interests of the citizenry. When you're more interested in appointing your chronies than in conducting the peoples business in a fair and equitable way; this is what you get. How many other local governmental groups are run by the same crowd?
