AUGUSTA, Ga---He's no longer with us, but his name is very much a part of the 2008 Presidential campaign. Tuesday would have been Martin Luther King, Jr.'s 79th birthday.

There was a celebration in downtown Augusta at the Greene Street Presbyterian Church.

News 12 caught up with the keynote speaker, Michael McCullen, who takes exceptions to King's name being used by politicians running for office.

"I really don't think it's appropriate for them to discuss race at this time, using Martin Luther King, Jr. for political gain," he said.

Martin Luther King Day will be observed on Monday, January 21st. Most schools, banks and government offices will be closed.
