AUGUSTA, Ga.---The Downtown Development Authority voted unanimously Thursday to expand the city boundaries. The plan is to expand downtown east to Bobby Jones, west to Milledgeville Road, and south to Wrightsboro Road to include the medical community and Paine College.
Key stakeholders in the project including MCG, the Harrisburg community, and Historic Augusta all signed off on the expansion. But is bigger really better?
"In this case I say bigger is better. These areas need assistance and the D.D.A can look for funding mechanisms to clean these areas up and we're just excited about the prospects," said the Downtown Development Authority executive director Margaret Woodard.
