What a difference a year can make. For Edmund Burke, that statement rings all too true. Two years ago, the Spartans had 8 wins. Last year, it was down to 2.
But there is something different this year. New head coach Buddy Surrow takes over the team and hopes to bring back the winning culture. And to get these guys to start winning again, they have to start thinking about winning first.
"The mental aspect is [important] because when you are losing, it gets to be a habit. Winning is a habit," says Surrow. "And you can learn some things from losing but you don't want to learn too many things."
"Well, we are a smaller team with smaller players," says senior hamp Wade." We're just trying to come together and try to turn things around."
The Spartans are not only hoping for more wins though this year. The team is setting a goal of winning a region game and making the playoffs as well.
