AUGUSTA, Ga. -- An extended recall has been issued for some dry dog food products that may be contaminated with salmonella.
This includes the food produced at Diamond Pet Foods in South Carolina.
So far, 14 people have become infected nationwide. There have not been any illnesses reported in Georgia thus far.
Symptoms for humans with salmonella infections:
Humans can become infected, especially if they have not thoroughly washed their hands after touching the food.
Symptoms for dogs with salmonella infections:
Pets can infect humans and other animals. If your pet has consumed the recalled product and has these symptoms, contact your veterinarian.
