12 On Your Side: Pro Resources loses accreditation after News 12 investigation

News 12 at 6 o'clock / Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2012

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- The Better Business Bureau of the CSRA has yanked Pro Resources' accreditation less than a week after News 12 On Your Side aired a special investigation into the employment service.

"The BBB does not feel comfortable with an 'A' rating at this time based on the concerns that have been raised," said Gigi Turner with the Better Business Bureau.

Pro Resources went from an A+ rating to no rating after our News 12 investigation.

Pro Resources markets itself as a premier employment service. Its website states: "We work hard to find 100's of available positions in your community."

However, News 12's investigation exposed out-of-town jobs advertised as local jobs, closed positions advertised as open ones and other misleading practices by Pro Resources.

"The story brought it to our attention and kind of highlighted the things the consumers have mentioned in the past. We decided we needed to take another look," Turner said.

Not only did the BBB remove Pro Resources' A+ rating but also removed the local branch's accreditation.

The BBB wrote in a letter to the local manager, "The BBB made the decision to not renew Pro Resources' accreditation ... the decision is based upon past and recent media reports and complaint patterns ..."

"There are eligibility standards that have to be met for accreditation," Turner said.

Pro Resources became accredited with the BBB in 2008. The Augusta branch lost that accreditation less than a week after our story aired.

Pro Resources can appeal the BBB decision to not renew its accreditation. At last check, Pro Resources had not sent a letter of appeal to the BBB.
