BURKE COUNTY, Ga. -- Patsy Poole enjoys her home in the country, but recently the simple private road she lives on became not so simple to cross.

"You hold your breath when you cross across that thing and hope it doesn't give a way and you fall in the pond," she said.

Rain has literally washed Twin Lake Drive into the pond and water sits on both sides of the road.

"I'm scared to go across that pond," Poole said.

A friend put down cinder blocks to make it somewhat possible to cross but Poole is still to scared to risk it herself. She also worries help may not reach her in case of an emergency.

"I don't know if an ambulance could get in there or not," she said.

Poole said she contacted the owner of the road. News 12 On Your Side called him, too. He told us he doesn't have the right machinery to fix it and he doesn't know what to do.

County officials say it's not their problem since they don't own it but did say that the road creates an unusual problem. Property lines are unclear who exactly owns it. Officials recommend neighbors hire a surveyor to find out who is responsible.

Normally, neighbors would take up a dispute involving a private road in civil court.
